Meet The Team

Ron Frank

Inland Valleys FCA Multi Area Director

Ron and Val Frank joined the Low Desert FCA Team in January 2020. A 29+ year fulltime missionary with FCA, Ron assumed the Low Desert Multi Area Director assignment after seven years as the VP of Field Ministry for the Pacific Northwest Region (AK, WA,ID, MT, OR). On September 1, 2021, Ron became the Inland Valleys Multi Area Director as his territory expanded to include all of Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial Counties. Ron began serving with FCA in 1993 as the Greater Chicago Director; and in 2001, became the Lake Michigan Regional Director, overseeing the Chicago area, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Val Frank

Administrative Assistant
Inland Valleys FCA

Val joined Ron on the FCA staff in 2009 as his Administrative Assistant and a year later, they were called to Portland, OR to rebuild the local ministry and assist on a state and regional level before assuming the VP assignment in 2012. Together they are excited to equip the Inland Valleys Staff, Leadership Boards, Volunteers and Donors to PURSUE the Mission to lead EVERY coach and athlete into a growing relationship
with Jesus Christ and His church.

Martin DuSold

Area Director
Citrus Belt

Martin is overjoyed and humbled to have the opportunity to join Fellowship of Christian Athletes and to answer the call God has placed in his life. After 27 years in public education, including 13 years as an athletic director, Martin is strongly drawn to the powerful words found in FCA’s vision and mission.
He has personally witnessed the love and grace of Jesus change the lives of student-athletes in both the campus huddle and sports camp settings. Martin agrees in joining FCA, as he says it is the chance to join a team and to be part of an organization that is internationally recognized at every level of sport. It is the opportunity to serve Jesus and others in the most meaningful mission in life. He also agrees with John Maxwell’s statement when he writes, “I believe the bottom line in leadership isn’t how far we advance ourselves but how far we advance others. That is achieved by serving others and adding value in their lives.” No higher value can be added to one’s life than to enter a personal relationship with Jesus. Martin joined the FCA team to continue both of these experiences at the highest level possible.

Kelli Telphy

Kelli is a marketing specialist who began working in ministry around 2022. She felt a calling to serve with FCA where she now contributes as a marketing specialist overseeing inland valleys websites and social media. She is hoping to be on staff as an area director Jan 2025. Kelli is passionate about bringing FCA to her hometown of San Bernardino, believing in the impact it can have on her community. She is also praying for the salvation of her family and feels that God has called her to be a voice in various spheres of influence.

Ashlee Smith

Ashlee Smith became the Riverside/CBU FCA director in April 2024. After 13 years of being away she returns to bring FCA to her hometown of Riverside, CA. Ashlee began her ministry with FCA after she graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2019, serving with the staff at her alma mater. Simultaneously, she served with the Northeast Mississippi team, handling Union and Pontotoc counties. Ashlee recently joined the Inland Valleys team after 4 years in San Antonio, Texas serving the college athletes and coaches of the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) and Trinity University. Ashlee is the daughter of a 25+ year college softball coaching veteran, Mike Smith (CBU). She has been around the collegiate athletics atmosphere for most of her life and has the ability to connect with both coaches and athletes.

Cody Clothier

Area Director
Southwest - Riverside County

As a previous educator, Cody has directly seen the darkness of the enemy on campuses. His heart and passion is bringing the Gospel message to coaches and athletes, empowering them to boldly live out their faith while utilizing their God given gifts to glorify Him. As Area Director of SW Riverside County, Cody is responsible of overseeing the ministry of FCA in Temecula,
Murrieta, Menifee, Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Winchester. When Cody isn’t serving with FCA he spends his time with his incredible wife Kassidy (his better half). You can find them taking full advantage of Southern California spending time at the beach and in the mountains. Kassidy owns her own wedding photography business where Cody also assists as a videographer.
Being called into the world of FCA, Cody holds close to heart Proverbs 3:56,“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path".

Juan Benito

Area Director
Imperial Valley

Juan Benito currently serves as the Area Director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Imperial Valley Prior to joining FCA in 2020 Juan spent 10 years on staff as an associate minister and 12 years in the non-profit sector as a project manager. With his wife, 3 adult children and one special needs daughter at home, he definitely has his hands full. However, Juan has found balance in not only serving his family and ministry, but others in our community. He is excited to lead FCA in the Imperial Valley and see how
God continues to grow the ministry to serve his local community.

Phil Boyland

Prospective Area Rep
FCA Golf

Phil Boyland was nine years old when his father led him to a saving faith in Jesus. He was raised in a Christian home and also grew in faith through camps and school. He learned of the incredible impact FCA is having in his home area, which drew him into volunteering his time and talents directly with local athletes and ministry abroad and indirectly as a board member and fundraiser. Phil is passionate about ministering to coaches and young athletes in the Coachella Valley. He also has a desire to minister to professional golfers on the U.S women’s tour. “I hope to lead huddles and devotionals at professional golf tournaments with the players throughout the year, sharing Jesus Christ and the Gospel.” Phil is attending FCA Fundraising Bootcamp this week, in order to begin raising funds for this position, and anticipates becoming an official staff member by January 2025.
